When conserving an object, identification, consolidation and treatment of historically significant and aged finishes is critical. Sympathetic film finish treatment requires first identifying the finish at hand and then using traditional, time-honored materials and techniques. When traditional methods do not provide the desired conservation, our training in modern conservation techniques using synthetic resins and coating systems will be applied. It is paramount to preserve historically important surfacesand their uderlying patina.
